Känd som "Negrodamus" från "The Chappelle's Show".
De som kollade på “The Chappelle’s Show” under 00-talet fick bland annat lära känna komikern Paul Mooney. Som profeten och spåmannen Negrodamus förutsåg Mooney framtiden med stor komik och svarade samtidigt på intressanta frågor som “Why do white people love Wayne Brady so much”.
Under onsdagen kom dock uppgifter om att komikern lämnat jordelivet, något som kort efter bekräftades av mediepersonligheten Roland Martin. I ett samtal till Martin från Mooneys kusin, Rudy Ealy, ska han ha dött i sitt hem efter en hjärtattack under onsdagsmorgonen. Han blev 79 år gammal. Via Twitter följde Martin även upp med information om att komikern drabbats av demens.

Mooney var även känd för sitt nära arbete med humor-profilen Richard Pryor och skrev även manus för shower som “In Living Color”, “Good Times”, “Sanford and Son”, “The Larry Sanders Show” och “Real Husbands of Hollywood”.

Paul Mooney. A comedy giant. I recall listening to his RACE album in college and how formative it was. Yeah, the jokes. But more so, the freedom. He spoke freely and fearlessly about feelings and experiences others found difficult to express. May he be truly free now. Rest, sir.
