A$AP Rocky blev inatt frikänd av en enig jury, men förvånansvärt nog inte på grund av det kanske starkaste argumentet i Rockys försvar: att vapnet var en replika. En jurymedlem har nu avslöjat att juryn trodde att Rocky hade ett riktigt vapen men att det inte fanns tillräckligt med bevis.

Den 36-åriga rapparen var alltså anklagad för innehav av ett halvautomatiskt vapen. Men i en livestream framkom följande information från en anonym jurymedlem:

“Everybody was really focused on delivering justice. I think that we really took our time. We discussed all the issues, all the questions that we had, we clarified those, we really kind of looked over some pieces of the evidence that people wanted to see a little bit more closely. And I think that we did the best we could with the instructions that we had, and with the evidence that we had”, förklarade jurymedlemmen och fortsatte:

“I think we kind of were almost at the verdict [but] we had a couple of people, including myself, who … still had some questions and we were all thinking that a crime had been committed. But the thing is with the instructions we had and with the law that we didn’t think that was enough evidence to commit.”

Jurymedlemmen ska också ha sagt att majoriteten av juryn trodde att A$AP Rocky hade ett riktigt vapen. Men vittnesmålen ska inte ha varit tillräckligt tillförlitliga under rättegången. Men vapnet (replikan) hittades aldrig och kunde inte användas i målet som bevisföring.
