Gästas av Black Thought (The Roots), Rah Digga samt Oh No och Jae Millz.

Brooklyn-rapparen Talib Kweli ser till att hålla ett konstant flöde av ny musik ute till sina fans. I september månad släppte han mixtapet “Attack of The Block” och utlovade nya albumet “Prisoner Of Conscious” till årsskiftet. I december kom dock nyheten att Talib Kweli lagt ner sitt eget skivbolag Blacksmith Music och startat en ny etikett för sin nya skiva. Häromdagen blev Talib intervjuad och gav skivan ett nytt releasedatum till 23:e april, och passade på att förklara bakgrunden till albumtiteln:

“At the center of being socially conscious is your community – it’s where you come from, what type of person that it made you, and how you give back to that. And it’s a cycle. With me it’s like, ‘Oh, he’s a great lyricist,’ but they don’t focus on the music. I think it’s because of how I’ve been sold and how I’ve been marketed as some sort of poster boy for underground rap.”

Under helgen släppte Talib Kweli nya singeln “Art Imitates Life” med gästande Black Thought och Rah Digga, samt b-sidan “One Two” med Jae Millz och Oh No.
