Tyler, the Creator hyllar Pharrell: “You are the greatest of all time”

Under helgen gick som bekant Pharrell-grundade festivalen “Something In The Water” av stapeln i Washington D.C. På plats återförenades Clipse med sitt första gemensamma framträdande på över tio år – medan svenska Snoh Aalegra också fanns bland de inbokade akterna. Det var hennes första spelning sedan hon återvände till svensk mark och festivalen Rosendal Garden Party häromveckan.

Detsamma gällde för Tyler, the Creator som också fanns på plats på sin mentors festival. Under sitt set tog han upp 21 Savage och just Pharrell för deras nya singel “Cash In Cash Out” och passade samtidigt på att hylla The Neptunes-veteranen.

“Trying to be all, ‘Ooooh,’ down to earth, n***a stop it! You are the greatest of all time. The innovation, the execution, but if ni****s want to talk numbers, the numbers speak for themselves too”, sa han inför publiken och fortsatte med att credda honom för sin karriär:

“I love you, I’m forever indebted to you, forever in debt to you, thank you for your existence. And please give it up to this man for putting this whole thing together. We appreciate you.”

Tyler har tidigare hyllat Pharrell som sin största förebild, där i synnerhet albumet “In My Mind” varit en stor inspiration. Han är heller inte den enda som hedrat producenten och artisten nyligen. Häromdagen stod det klart att The Neptunes valts in i Songwriters Hall of Fame.
