I somras skapade Chet även en del kontroverser i sociala medier när han i ett inlägg på Instagram använde “N-ordet”. Han skrev:
“2 types of people in this world: those who know exactly what it is they want and are doing everything they can to get it; and those who just wander aimlessly through life because they are scared to death of failure. I’ve lost a lot of so called friends cuz they turned out to be the second kind. Fuck yall hating ass niggaz I’ll never stop chasing my dream,”
Chet förklarade och försvarade sitt användande av ordet genom att uttrycka följande:
“an unspoken thing between people who are friends and understand each other”
“hip-hop isn’t about race, it’s about the culture you identify with,”
“can’t no one tell me what I can’t say”.
Nu ber dock Chet Haze om ursäkt för hur kastade sig med ordet och skyller på missbruk av kokain samt sin “tuffa uppväxt”, vilket han kommunicerat i ett antal videoklipp på Instagram under torsdagen:
“That stuff I was in the media about, about the N-word and everything…I know a lot of y’all kind of understood the point I was trying to make, but the truth is it’s not my place to speak on that. And I’m genuinely sorry for the people that I offended.”
