Timbaland tackar Drake och Jay-Z för att de stöttade honom genom hans mörkaste period i livet, där hans drogberoende tog över och ändrade hur han betedde sig i offentligheten och mot närstående.
“Those guys are special to the world”, säger han i en intervju med Shannon Sharpe.
Den legendariske producenten gästade nyligen Shannon Sharpes podcast Club Shay Shay och öppnade upp om de beroendeproblem han har brottats med under delar av sin karriär. Han berättar hur han började ta stora doser av läkemedlen Vicodin och OxyContin och beskriver hur de gav honom en falsk känsla av oövervinnlighet. När han börja trappa upp doserna drabbades han till slut av en nära döden-upplevelse.
“Everybody that I know who done that have died, so I think I even died at one point in time. I had an out-of-body experience where I was laying in the bed, and I saw myself laying in the bed. From that point on, God has changed my mind, and I didn’t go to a doctor. I did it cold turkey.”
Bland personerna som hjälpte honom ur beroendet lyfter Timbaland Drake, som hörde av sig för att ”checka” hans beteende, men framför allt Jay-Z som hjälpte honom med både stöd och råd.
“Now, once they give you the information, it’s up to you to use it. I didn’t come out until the darkness, man, and that’s why I say, it’s all love with these guys. They helped me during my darkest moment”, säger Timbaland i intervjun.
