Timbaland har officiellt utlovat att Verzuz kommer att återvända under 2023 och att fans av plattformen inte kommer bli besvikna med vad de har att erbjuda. I en ny intervju med AllHipHop som publicerades i söndags lovar han att ge folket vad de vill ha, snarare än de kunnat ana.
“Verzuz is still a baby. It was something that was built in the pandemic that’s now a household name. Look how you saying it. Now we back open. To make it have the longevity that we need it to have, we have to reorganize the ship”, säger han och fortsätter:
“I believe that we’re gonna drop some good ones before the end of the year. We’re trying to get at least one good one before the end of the year to recalibrate what Verzuz is going to be in the future.”
Redan i februari utlovade medgrundaren Swizz Beatz samma sak och menade att infrastrukturen för Verzuz skulle utvecklas inför den tredje säsongen, med en “fantastisk lineup”.
“We’ve been changing the infrastructure because when we started, it happened in the garage and then moved to a significant platform. Now, we changed the whole way we’re moving but not entirely, so people won’t feel like it’s not the same”, sa Swizz till REVOLT.
I en annan intervju med HipHopDX, inför premiären av “The Godfather of Harlem” säsong 3, hintade han också om att det kan komma fler producent-battles framöver.
“Yeah, I mean, that’s how we started it. You know, me and Tim going head-to-head and DJ Premier and RZA. You know what I’m saying? We did a bunch of those. I mean, we definitely need to get back to a lot of different things that people won’t expect. It’s going to end up to be really crazy.”
2021 sålde som bekant Swizz och Timbo sin plattform till Triller i en lukrativ deal där de också blev stora aktieinnehavare i företaget. Men i augusti 2022 stämde de samma företag på 28 miljoner dollar för påstådda uteblivna intäkter, bland annat.
