Snoop Dogg och Dr. Dre ställer in jubileumskonserter – i solidaritet med strejkerna i Hollywood

Snoop Dogg hade två stora konserter planerade i Hollywood Bowl i Los Angeles 20 och 21 oktober. Konserterna, som Snoop döpt till The Doggystyle 30th Anniversary concerts, skulle fira 30-årsjubileumet av hans klassiska debutalbum ”Doggystyle” och skulle gästas av Dr. Dre. Nu meddelar Snoop att han ställer in båda konserterna i solidaritet med de manusförfattare och skådespelare som gått ut i strejk i Hollywood.

”We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of when this will be over, we need to cancel the Hollywood Bowl show. We continue to stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters in the WGA and SAGIAFTRA during this difficult time and remain hopeful that the AMPTP will come back to the negotiating table with a REAL proposal and we can all get back to work”, skrev Snoop i ett meddelande på Instagram under tisdagen.

Snoop Dogg har tidigare gått ut och stöttat strejken på sociala medier och för en knapp månad sedan meddelade han att han beslutat att skjuta upp jubileumskonserterna från juli till oktober. Enligt TMZ ska Snoop och Dre dessutom ha skickat food trucks till strejkande manusförfattare och skådespelare utanför Paramount Studios i Los Angeles. I samband med att han sköt upp konserterna uttalade han sig också om strejken i en video på sociala medier:

“We need to figure that out the same way the writers are figuring out… The writers are striking because streaming, they can’t get paid. Because, when it’s on the platform, it’s not like in the box office. In the box office, if it does all these numbers, you may get an up — ‘Oh, it did this many, here’s another check.’ But on streaming you got 300,000 hours that somebody watched your movie. Where’s the money?”, sa ”Doggystyle”-rapparen då.
