Snoop Dogg har officiellt krönt Kendrick Lamar till kung av västkusten. Detta efter den historiska “Pop Out”-konserten i Los Angeles förra veckan, som också gick av stapeln på den amerikanska högtiden Juneteenth.
Under spelningen återförenades K.Dot med Black Hippy-kollegorna ScHoolboy Q, Jay Jay Rock och Ab-Soul och gästades av bland andra Dr. Dre, Tyler, the Creator, YG och Roddy Ricch. Men framförallt så enade han medlemmar från L.A-baserade gatugängen Bloods och Crips på scenen.
Något som Snoop Dogg blivit mäkta imponerad över.
“Sending a big shout out to K.dot and all the homies from the West that stood together unified, organized in peace, love. That was beautiful. That was fun to watch. Beautiful to see all my peoples come together. And K.dot – you are the King of the West”, säger Snoop i en video publicerad på Instagram.
Västkustlegendaren själv medverkade inte på spelningen då han vid tillfället befann sig i Toronto – ironiskt nog.
“That’s the kind of shit kings do. We unite. We bring our peoples together”, säger han vidare.
Kendrick själv påpekade känslosamt vad detta betydde för honom och staden under spelningen, där han bland annat refererade till bortgångna Nipsey Hussle och Kobe Bryant.
“This shit making me emotional. We been fucked up since Nipsey [Hussle] died. We been fucked up since Kobe [Bryant] died. This is unity at its finest. We done lost a lot of homies to this music shit, to this street shit. For all of us to be together on stage, that shit is special. Everybody on this stage got fallen soldiers.”
