Blir den högst certifierade singeln någonsin.

Post Malone och Swae Lee har skapat historia med samarbetet ”Sunflower”. Låten skapades 2018 för soundtracket till ”Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse” och blev under måndagen den högst certifierade singeln i RIAA-historien när den sålde 17x platina. Den gick alltså om Lil Nas X och Billy Ray Cyrus samarbete ”Old Town Road” som höll det tidigare rekordet med 15x platina.

”Sunflower”, som även var inkluderad på Post Malones senaste album ”Hollywood’s Bleeding”, blev dessutom nominerad i kategorierna Record of the Year och Best Pop Duo/Group Performance på 2020 års Grammy-gala. 

TMZ möter en upprymd Post Malone som uttalar sig om samarbetet och hans beundran för Swae Lee:

”I wanted to say thank you to Swae Lee. Swae Lee did a lot of the writing and the heavy lifting on this song and he’s one of the most talented artists and beautiful men in the world and I’m so honored to be able to have done a song with him and we’ve got more on the way. And 17 times platinum is fucking insane and I wanted to say thank you to everybody who’s listening.”

Gårdagen var en bra dag för Post Malone. Inte bara för att han slog RIAA-rekord med ”Sunflower”, han fick även ta emot 14 andra plaketter. ”Congratulations” och ”Psycho” sålde 14 respektive 10 platina och ”Circles”, ”Wow” och ”Go Flex” sålde nio, respektive åtta och sex platina. 

Utmärkelserna kommer lagom till det sista turnéstoppet i Kalifornien på hans ”Twelve Carat Tour” som bygger på senaste skivan ”Twelve Carat Toothache” som i juni debuterade på listplats nummer två på Billboard 200. I somras uppträdde han på Lollapalooza Stockholm med skivan i ryggen.

Även Swae Lee uttalar sig till TMZ om det nya rekordet: 

“Thanks to all the fans! You guys made history with us! And to Post and Miles Morales, glad the music could get the attention and love it deserves. So much more to come! SREMMLIFE!”
