I somras gjorde Offset och Quavo en hyllning till Migos-kollegan TakeOff på BET Music Awards, trots att de båda haft meningsskiljaktigheter och inte dragit jämnt under senaste åren. Inom kort är Offset aktuell med nytt soloalbum och besökte på måndagen Angela Yee-programmet “Way Up With…” på iHeart Radio. Samtalet kom till stor del att handla om TakeOffs bortgång och Offset förklarade känslorna kring det:

“I’m unhealed. I’m being honest, I lost my brother. I’m not healed — I’m not good. And this shit don’t help nothing. We stars so people be thinking it’s just cool but I’m a real grown man. I cry every day about this shit. At some point, it fucks me up every day.”

Offset fortsatte beskriva hur Cardi B varit ett stöd genom sorgeprocessen:

“And then it be this type of bullshit on top of shit that be too much for me. I’m still a human being. I’m dealing through shit personally and people’s opinions matter nowadays. What’s on Twitter matters what’s being said. I play cool, I smile for the cameras, I do fashion week, and all this shit but behind the scenes I need my woman to be there for me for what I’m going through.”

Redan i våras avslöjade Offset att han satsar fullt ut på en solokarriär och det kommande albumet ska gästas av Travis Scott, Cardi B, Future, Chloe Bailey, Latto och TakeOff. I en intervju med Variety sa han då:

“This is me going full-fledged into my solo career. The objective is to do it fully and smash shit and fuck the game up as a solo artist. I’m coming through, bustin’ through the door. It’s all set, my next chapter. It’s my time.”
