Method Man säger att han inte har sett ett avsnitt av Hulus ”Wu-Tang: An American Saga”, trots att han är listad som en av producenterna.
Wu-Tang-legenden gästade nyligen Kevin Harts podcast ”Gold Minds With Kevin Hart” där han pratade om Hulus tv-serie om Wu-Tang Clan som precis avslutat sin tredje och sista säsong. Meth berättade bland annat om att serien skildrar hur medlemmarna använde sina solokontrakt för att förhandla bättre kontrakt för hela gruppen – och vad det betydde för musikbranschen.
“There was never in the history of music, where a group signed as a group with the option to sign as solo artists with other labels. Labels, the one thing they don’t do, is play nice with each other. They’re not gonna share money. So to have me on Def Jam, GZA on Geffen, and Raekwon at the home team Loud — you had these three labels working together for our cause. Unheard of, unheard of. Which, in terms of changing the game, that’s changing the game right there. You had people actually asking for Wu-Tang deals”, sa Method Man i intervjun.
Men han berättade också att han tidigt upptäckte att hans vision om tv-serien skiljde sig från producenternas. Och att han därför aldrig har tittat på något av avsnitten, trots att han står listad som en av producenterna.
“They were taking a lot of liberties here with the story, but in hindsight, knowing how some of these things work and embellishments and sometimes you know dudes still be having open cases and shit like that I can understand. I haven’t watched an episode personally, but I get the scripts ahead of time, and you know, I mean every thing ain’t for everybody, that’s all I could say.”
”Wu-Tang: An American Saga” hade premiär på Hulu i september 2019 och avslutades med den sista säsongen i april 2023. Serien vann två Golden Reel Awards och blev nominerad till en Emmy. I serien porträtterades Method Man av rapparen Dave East.
