"Megan is a multi-talented creative force..."
I december förra året kom nyheten att Megan Thee Stallion signat en stor deal med Netflix för att exekutivt producera och skapa material för streamingjätten. Nu, ett par månader senare, verkar hon ha förhandlat till sig en komediserie löst baserad på hennes liv.
I en intervju med Deadline säger chefen för komedisektionen på Netflix, Tracey Pakosta:
“It’s very early. She came in and she pitched something loosely based on her life growing up, and we got very excited about it. We think she’s special.”
När nyheten om rapparens deal med Netflix kom hade Pakosta bara bra saker att säga om Megan.
“Megan is a multi-talented creative force who has consistently made her mark on culture. She’s always growing and evolving as an artist, and we’re thrilled that she’s making a home at Netflix for this next chapter in her journey.”
Och det är inte bara Pakosta som håller Megan Thee Stallion högt. Igår söndag förärades hon med en egen dag i hemstaden Houston samt nycklarna till staden under en ceremoni där bland andra stadens borgmästare Sylvester Turner och flera från statsrådet närvarade. Detta innebär att den 2 maj numera är Megan Thee Stallion Day i Houston.
“Came home real quick to get THEE KEY TO THEE CITY. and in honor of my mother and grandmother’s birthday MAY 2ND is officially MEGAN THEE STALLION DAY IN HOUSTON TX. thank you Mayor @sylvesterturner for honoring me today and I will continue to give back to the city that made me who I am today #htown”, skriver rapparen i ett inlägg för att uppmärksamma sin bedrift.
I sitt tacktal hyllade hon sin mamma och mormor, som båda gick bort kort efter varandra i mars 2019.
“Both of these women helped me grow into the woman that I am today. I don’t know what kind of lady I would be if granny didn’t raise me to be so kind and so giving. You could walk by these ladies’ house and they givin’ out dollars, candy—whatever they’ve got, they’re givin’ it out the door”, sa hon och fortsatte:
“And I always wanted to be just like that. I wanted to be nice like them. They made me feel so beautiful and so loved, and they made everybody they met feel just like that. So I was like, ‘When I grow up, I wanna be just like them.’”
Borgmästaren påpekade också att det inte bara var för hennes musikaliska bedrifter hon hyllades – utan minst lika mycket för de samhälleliga insatser hon gjort.
“Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift people’s lives in underserved communities. She assisted people after the 2021 winter storm, during the pandemic, and helped those struggling with homelessness. I look forward to watching her grow as an artist and humanitarian.”
