Medan många hiphopfans uttryckt kritik mot att Lil Wayne ignorerats.
Igår kväll stod det klart att Kendrick Lamar leder halvtidsshowen för Super Bowl LIX i början av nästa år i New Orleans. Ett självklart beslut enligt många, men en del har också uttryckt kritik mot NFL, Roc Nation och Apple Music för att ha förbisett en viss lokal legend.
Efter att beslutet blev officiellt gick många fans ut och menade att Lil Wayne borde ha tilldelats äran, då han som bekant är från just New Orleans. Dessutom gick hans mångåriga ljudtekniker ut och kritiserade beslutet, samtidigt som han tycktes insinuera att man blivit lovade något annat.
I ett inlägg skriver Fabian Marasciullo:
“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all, inspired. Will never again be in a position or have the 🐐 in a position where we are at the mercy of someone else’s decision. We will make the decisions.”
Även Master P gick ut och konstaterade att han ansåg att Weezy bör ha varit en del av Super Bowls halvtidsshow med tanke på hur mycket rapparen betytt för staden och sydstatshiphop. Efter att ha hyllat Kendrick Lamar och hans musikaliska gärning, skrev han vidare:
“As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here.”

Hur som helst kommer Super Bowl LIX gå av stapeln den 9 februari 2025. Det återstår att se om K.Dot följer Master P:s råd eller ej.
