Joe Buddens dispyt med Drake fortsätter. I det senaste avsnittet av populära “The Joe Budden Podcast” avslöjar han bland annat att den kanadensiska megastjärnan skickade ett privat meddelande till honom och lämnade ett 55 sekunder långt röstmeddelande. Det är oklart om detta hände innan Drake postade sin uppmärksammade sågning i kommentarsfältet – där han bland annat kallade Budden “failure” och “quitter” – eller efter.
Hur som helst berättar Budden att Drake också skickade flera privata meddelanden till honom där han förklarade att han inte hade beef med honom och tvärtom ville att han skulle recensera albumet.
Drake ska enligt Budden mest ha varit arg för att han kommenterade saker som hans relation till Kai Cenat och vilka kvinnor han dejtade, istället för att fokusera på musiken.
Vidare adresserade Budden rapfans och lyssnare som kallat honom en “hater” och säger i podcasten:
“I’m sick of people attempting to spin the narrative that I’m a hater. That’s what I’m sick of. Every time I get into it with one of these n****s…This is a thinly veiled attempt at revisionist history for the TikTokers and the streamers is what this is. This is who he is speaking to, the people that know me for this.”
På komiskt manér riktade han sig också till den yngre skaran av hans publik som kanske inte har koll på vad han gjort i sin karriär.
“Unfortunately for y’all out there, there’s some people that was there. They lived through it before TikTok was a thing. You gotta go ask like your cool uncle. You gotta go ask your dad, some of y’all your moms. You gotta ask your older cousin that was moving around outside…Some grandparents… The problem with this is, y’all can not, you can’t unqualify me because I was qualified before you were a thing. It’s just a fact.”
Han menar att han ger sin kritik utifrån ett perspektiv som en av de bästa rapparna någonsin.
“To the kids that are confused out there, when I sit on this couch and talk, I speak from the position of one of the best rappers in the world at all times. I speak like that’s what I was, I speak like that’s what I am, I speak like that as I will always be. I get how that can be confusing for some of y’all cause there is no metric to support it.”
“But what I mean by that is any room, anywhere, anybody for years, ask your cousin. It’s well-documented what I do. I feel this way and speak this way because all of the best rappers in the world have told me to my face.”
