Världens första graffitimuseum, “Museum of Graffiti“, ska temporärt lämna sitt hem i Miami, USA, och ta sig till Europa, närmare bestämt Paris. På Urban Art Fair Paris 2025 kommer museumet visa upp graffitiverk av legendariska konstnärer som Futura, Crash, Seen och Lady Pink. Grundarna till muséet, Allison Freidin och Alan Ket, säger i en intervju med magasinet Resident att:
“This exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience and collect museum-quality works from the pioneers of graffiti. None of these pieces have ever been seen before outside of the United States, making this a truly special moment for collectors, art enthusiasts, and historians alike.”
“Bringing the Museum of Graffiti to Paris is a milestone, not just for us, but for the global graffiti community. Many of the artists we celebrate started their journeys in the streets, and now their works are being exhibited in a city with such a rich art history. It’s proof that graffiti has secured its place in the art world.”
Det är alltså tydligt att detta handlar om något mer än bara visa och dela med sig av konsten. Detta är en markering mot konstvärlden att legitimera graffiti som någonting mer än bara “klotter”.
