I ett samtal med högaktuella Swizz Beatz och Timbaland om Biggie Smalls, i samband med 24-årsdagen av hans död i förrgår, avslöjade Fat Joe en intressant historia. Enligt rapparen hade han själv och Biggie påbörjat ett gemensamt album innan den senares tragiska bortgång den 9 mars 1997.
Enligt Bronx-rapparen hade de hunnit spela in runt fem låtar, där de flesta var dissar riktade mot 2Pac men som tur var aldrig släpptes.
“You know I say stuff, Tim, and they always say I lie or I say too much”, började Joe.
“You know I worked on an album with Biggie? We cut about five songs together. He was like, ‘You the Latino don, I’m the Black don.’ And we was in that studio going crazy. It’s verified by Puff Daddy and everybody. I’ma keep it real – at the time, we were dissing Tupac a lot and all that and so that should have never seen the light of day. Which is respectfully so, because you know they both passed on. But yeah, I worked with the B.I.G. for real.”
Tidigare i år proklamerade just Swizz Beatz att hans dröm är att göra en Verzuz-battle mellan Biggie och Tupac, på ett sätt som alla kan respektera.
“My dream one, I want to figure out how to do Pac and Biggie in a way that the people is gonna really love it”, sa Swizz till ESPN:s “Jalen And Jacoby” då.
