För "Pioneers of Hip-Hop"-event.

The Recording Industry Association of America, mer känt som RIAA (som bland annat delar ut guld- och platinaskivor), har meddelat att hiphop-pionjärerna Grandmaster Flash och MC Lyte kommer att hyllas vid ett “Pioneers of Hip-Hop”-event i Washington D.C.

DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mix Master Mike och Rapsody väntas uppträda vid ceremonin den 14 september, medan Dr. Dre, Missy Elliott, DJ Kool och Yo-Yo kommer att agera presentatörer.

“At this year’s RIAA Honors, we are thrilled to celebrate pioneers who have defied obstacles, defined a genre and accelerated the growth of hip-hop to audiences across generations and geography. Congratulations and thank you, Grandmaster Flash, MC Lyte, Jeff Harleston and chairman Hakeem Jeffries for your contributions to this diverse musical landscape and setting the stage for creators to come”, säger RIAA-ordförnanden och vd:n Mitch Glazier i ett uttalande via Billboard.

Det första “Pioneers of Hip-Hop”-eventet hölls så sent som 2019.
