2022 års BET Awards börjar närma sig, vilket betyder att vi nu får reda på vilka som står som nominerade till musikgalan. Sent igår stod det klart att Doja Cat leder nomineringarna med hela sex stycken, däribland i kategorierna Album of the Year, Video of the Year och Best Collaboration med SZA-samarbetet “Kiss Me More”. Hon står dessutom nominerad i både Best Female Hip Hop Artist och Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Och om “Planet Her” kanske lutade mer mot det senare, så har stjärnan utlovat mer rap på sitt kommande album.
“I’ve rapped since the beginning, and I really couldn’t even sing that well to begin with—I got a lot better. I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s fine if people think that I can’t rap”, har Doja sagt till Elle i en intervju nyligen.
Strax efter hittar vi i vanlig ordning Drake, men även Dreamville-sångerskan Ari Lennox, med fyra nomineringar. Därefter följer namn som Baby Keem, Silk Sonic, Chlöe, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Ye (Kanye West), Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige och Tems med tre vardera. I Album of the Year-kategorin ställs Doja Cat mot H.E.R.’s “Back of My Mind”, Ye’s “Donda”, Tyler, the Creators “Call Me If You Get Lost” och Jazmine Sullivans “Heaux Tales”.
Värd för galan, som går av stapeln den 26 juni, blir Taraji P. Henson. Se samtliga nominerade nedan, som också innehåller film- och sportkategorier.
