“Not a day goes by that I don’t feel the loss."
Igår söndag delade Bun B med sig av en hyllning till kollegan och vännen Pimp C, som gick bort för 15 år sedan. De båda utgjorde som bekant den stilbildande duon UGK från Texas.
“Not a day goes by that I don’t feel the loss. I just find better ways to cope with it. Missed and loved but appreciated for the time we did have with you. Your spirit lives on in your music and your legacy lives on through your kids. The trillest ever born. They’ll never be another. Love you bro. And it’s still UGK For Life! #LongLiveThePimp”, skriver Bun B i inlägget.
Pimp C avled i december 2007, blott 33 år gammal. Dödsorsaken fastställdes ha att göra med en kombination av populära berusningsmedlet lean och sömnapné.
Tillsammans släppte duon sex studioalbum, vars mest framgångsrika – “Underground Kingz” – debuterade på Billboards förstaplats vid releasen 2007. Här hittar vi också deras största låt “Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You)”.
Bun B har sedan Pimps bortgång fortsatt släppa musik som soloartist, men tidigare i år avslöjade han för HipHopDX att han inte alls funnit samma glädje i musiken sedan kollegans bortgång.
“I haven’t really enjoyed making music since Pimp passed away. And so now that I get to make music with friends and I’m not under any contractual obligation, I make music because I want to not because I have to, so it’s a different experience for me. For me, it just has to be fun or I’m not going to do it. I just don’t want to do it”, sa han då.
