DJ Akademiks har på sitt håll varit en viktig kugge i den uppmärksammade beefen mellan Drake och Kendrick Lamar. Som en del av ett bisarrt medielandskap har han via tight kontakt med Drake och hans team bland annat premiärspelat disslåtar från Toronto-stjärnans håll. Men nu verkar han åsidosätta sin relation för att berätta vad som verkligen pågått.
Under helgen pratade han via sin Rumble-kanal om vad som faktiskt stämmer gällande de tvetydiga uppgifterna som kastats rapparna emellan. Han kommenterade bland annat omslaget för Drake-dissen “Meet The Grahams”, som innehöll flera föremål som ska ha stulits från Drake, bland annat piller av den populära bantningsmedicinen Ozempic.
“I think Drake knew these things were stolen. It does look like some stolen shit”, säger Akademiks och fortsätter:
“Drake did know that they were stolen so I don’t know if he’s trying to reverse psychology it. When Drake said he set it up, I’m taking that to be the 11-year-old daughter thing”, säger han med referens till Kendricks påståenden om att Drake har en hemlig dotter.
“Because from everybody I’ve talked to including Drake, we can’t even see where this came from and Kendrick said it so definitively in what was supposed to be his biggest song. That was supposed to be the biggest exposé.”
Det var på låten “Family Matters” som Drake påstod att han planterat falsk information om bland annat en hemlig dotter, då han rappade:
“We plotted for a week, and then we fed you the information/ A daughter that’s 11 years old, I bet he takes it/ We thought about givin’ a fake name or a destination/ But you so thirsty, you not concerned with investigation“
“Instead you in that Venice studio, it’s a celebration/ You gotta learn to fact-check things and be less impatient/ Your/ fans are rejoicin’, thinkin’ this is my expiration/ Even the picture you used, the jokes and the medication/ The Maybach glove and the drug he use is for less inflation/ Master manipulator, you bit on the speculation”
Akademiks sa också rakt ut att båda rapparna tycks ha ägnat sig en hel del åt rena lögner i sina disslåtar.
“I think both of these guys put their fair share of lies in there too in the battle. Drake doesn’t have a kid, Kendrick lied. Kendrick’s kid isn’t Dave Free’s, Drake lied. So there’s lies all in this.”
Det återstår att se vad som faktiskt stämmer, men för nu verkar i alla fall beefen vara över.
