RZA och DJ Scratch har nu bekräftat att de släpper ett gemensamt album. I samband med nyheten bjuder man också på musikvideon till vad som kommer att bli titelspåret, “Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater”, som släpptes förra året. Albumet ska släppas den 4 mars och är helt producerat av DJ Scratch.
“Lyrically the hip-hop part of me had a chance to re-emerge during quarantine. Giving Scratch the reins as a producer and me taking the reins as an MC, that’s what frees me up creatively and lets me play more with lyrical gags and lyrical flows because I don’t have to be focused on everything”, säger RZA om skivan.
“He delivered tracks that resonated and brought me back to a sound that I felt was missing. For me it was really natural for me to flow and write to these songs.”
DJ Scratch, som under sin karriär jobbat nära akter som EPMD och Busta Rhymes och bland annat varit hus-DJ för program som “Rap City: The Basement”, tillägger att man velat fånga känslan av att se en ny dubbad kung fu-film.
“I’m proud of this project and I can’t wait to perform these songs live”, säger han.
