Megan Thee Stallion, H.E.R. och Missy Elliott medverkar på soundtrack till filmatisering av musikalen “The Color Purple”

Det officiella soundtracket för nyversionen av musikalen “The Color Purple” har presenterats via Warner Bros. Pictures, WaterTower Music och multimediaplattformen gamma.

Den Blitz Bazawule-regisserade filmen kommer att föräras med sång och rap av inga mindre än Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Hudson, Keyshia Cole, Jorja Smith, Coco Jones, Ciara, Mary Mary, Usher, H.E.R., Missy Elliott och Fantasia Barrino.

Inför premiären i början av nästa år släpptes den första singeln soundtracket, “Lifeline” av Alicia Keys, i söndags den 26 november. Låten beskrivs som “heartfelt ode to the unequivocal comfort emanating from friends, family, and community that holds us up as we face life’s challenging moments”, i ett pressmeddelande.

I filmen kommer vi dessutom se Fantasia, Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R. och Halle Bailey framföra låtar på vita duken. Låtar skrivna av de Grammy-belönade låtskrivarna bakom musikalen. Den nya musiken är producerad av legendarerna Quincy Jones och Scott Sanders, som båda även agerar producenter för filmen och var med och skapade Broadway-musikalen.

Soundtracket väntas släppas den 15 december 2023, medan filmen får vänta till nästa år. Närmare bestämt den 19 januari 2024, då filmen ska ha premiär via Filmstadens biografer.
