Under 2023 har Atlanta-rapparen Ludacris vid flera tillfällen visat upp att hans rap-skills är intakta, trots att han på senare år mestadels agerat skådespelare och entreprenör. Nyligen gjorde Ludacris även en spektakulär entré på en Atlanta Falcons-match (se nedan) för att framföra några klassikerlåtar i samband med hiphopkulturens 50-årsjubileum och Thanksgiving-helgen.
Hungern att rappa verkar finnas och i en intervju med Rolling Stone berättar Luda att rapkollegorna Kendrick Lamar och J. Cole har inspirerat i återkomsten på micken:
“I love J. Cole. I definitely love Kendrick Lamar. Those are just to name a few. Those are probably my top two. I love listening to them. I love how progressive Kendrick is and Cole, he’s just… it’s the hunger. That’s what I need to motivate me in order to continue going. People like him. And I’ve told both of these individuals this. It’s nothing but love.”
Inför 2024 är planen att släppa ny musik och han säger:
“We’re still in the beginning stages, but there’s definitely music coming out in 2024. I’m going to keep it tightlipped for now. Nowadays, you got to do that.”
I bjärt kontrast till André 3000 har Ludacris en annan syn på rap i medelåldern:
“Music and rap is all about what you’re going through and what your reality is. And I think as I’ve grown as an individual and evolved as a person, so has the music. You got to talk about what’s real to you. You got to talk about what’s going on. And I think that that’s one of the things; I’ve always been competitive and wanting to evolve with the time. [I] love all of this new stuff that’s coming out.”
Det är i dagsläget oklart när ny musik av Ludacris kan komma att släppas. Senast 2015 släppte han albumet “Ludaversal” och förra hösten kom Flo Milli-gästade singeln “Buying All Black”.
