Kendrick Lamar har än en gång cementerat sin status som den mest dominanta artisten inom hiphopgenren. Under nattens BET Hip Hop Awards skrev han historia genom att ta hem åtta av totalt elva kategorier som han var nominerad i. Något som är ett nytt rekord i sammanhanget.

Tre av priserna tilldelades Drake-dissen “Not Like Us”, som vann Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video och Impact Track. Gästversen på “Like That” med Future och Metro Boomin utsågs till Best Featured Verse medan låten i sig vann Best Collaboration.

Han utsågs dessutom till Hip Hop Artist of the Year – i konkurrens med bland andra Drake, Future och Nicki Minaj – Lyricist of the Year samt Video Director of the Year tillsammans med pgLang-kollegan Dave Free.

En kategori han inte kunde vinna var Album of the Year, som istället togs hem av Nicki Minaj för senaste skivan “Pink Friday 2”.

Övriga vinnare inkluderar Future och Metro Boomin (Best Duo or Group), Sexyy Red (Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist), The Alchemist (Producer of the Year, DJ of the Year) och Missy Elliott (Best Live Performer).

Värt att notera är att Megan Thee Stallion gick hem tomhänt, trots att hon nominerades i hela 12 kategorier inför galan som leddes av Fat Joe.
