Jay-Z, Kid Cudi och Lil Wayne bidrar med musik för soundtracket till “The Book of Clarence” – se officiell filmtrailer här!

I slutet av augusti gjorde Jay-Z återkomst till sociala medier när han delade en trailer för den kommande filmen “The Book of Clarence”. Nu börjar det närma sig för den Jeymes Samuel-regisserade rullen, där Jay-Z är med och agerar producent.

I samband med att en officiell trailer nu släppts har Samuel också delat med sig av den första låten från filmens soundtrack, som förstås kommer få en stor roll med tanke på att Hov är inblandad. “Hallelujah Heaven” har skrivits och producerats av den brittiska filmskaparen själv och gästas av Lil Wayne, Shabba Ranks och Buju Banton.

“There was never a question as to whether I would compose the score and write and perform on the soundtrack, as well as write and direct the movie — it was all one amazing journey where one depended on the other. But I also worked with the most awesome artists on our track ‘Hallelujah Heaven.’ Collaborating with Lil’ Wayne, Buju Banton and Shabba Ranks was so dope, I loved getting them all on the same track”, säger Samuel i ett uttalande.

Låten har fått sin plats vid en scen “when we first see Jesus, the majestic Messiah, so I wanted three majestic human beings to feature on that track”, har Samuel berättat för The Hollywod Reporter.

Vidare berättar han att filmen är något han velat göra i många år och fanns med i bakhuvudet när han gjorde “The Harder They Fall” (också med Jay-Z).

“The Book of Clarence is a film that I wanted to make for many years. While I was working on The Harder They Fall and all my other projects, the story and the music for The Book of Clarence was always there percolating in my mind.”

Vad gäller resten av soundtracket till filmen så kommer det även innehålla ny musik av Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Adekunle Gold, Jorja Smith, Yemi Alade och många fler.

Filmen, där vi bland annat får se LaKeith Stanfield, Teyana Taylor, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard och Caleb McLaughlin, beskrivs av Sony Pictures som “a bold new take on the timeless Hollywood era Biblical epic.” Set in 29 A.D. Jerusalem, Clarence (LaKeith Stanfield) is a street-savvy swindler, who attempts to prove to his loved ones that he isn’t a nobody by claiming to be the new Messiah. He winds up risking everything to form a new path to “a divine life, a journey through which he finds redemption and faith, power and knowledge.”
