Hiphopfans häpnar över AI-samarbete mellan 2Pac och DMX – tekniken sågas av Ice Cube

"...it’s a slippery slope that will hurt us more than it will help us."

Det finns mycket att säga och tycka om AI-teknik, men just nu kan vi tacka den för ett smått otroligt samarbete mellan bortgångna legenderna 2Pac och DMX. Klippet som postas av YouTube-kontot dopfunk har fått hiphopfans att gå bananas över hur verkligt det faktiskt låter.

På “Facing Death” rappar AI-versionen av 2Pac bland annat:

“I’m gone but I will never be forgotten / Was talkin’ about death ’cause I knew n-ggas was plotting / So I came back, only to haunt these n-ggas / Snakes will slither / It don’t matter who pulled the trigger!”

Därefter hörs AI-DMX fylla på med:

“And in due time, you’ll find out for yourself who you be / Ain’t no riches that will help you in hell when you meet / Your maker / He’ll break you down and analyze what you did in your life / N-gga, everybody has to die”

Fans har som sagt blivit galna i kommentarsfältet och kallar resultatet “mind-blowing”. Men en som inte är lika imponerad över hur AI börjat samverka med underhållningsbranschen är Ice Cube. Den forne NWA-rapparen satt nyligen ner med Piers Morgan där han tydligt och klart markerade sin ståndpunkt:

“I think it’s terrible. I think it’s gon’ make people lazier, less creative.”

Han utvecklade sedan sin åsikt genom att dra en parallell till filmvärlden, som han själv är väl bekant med.

“Could you imagine if I decided not to do a sequel and the movie company said: ‘We have the rights to your likeness. We gon’ put you in this sequel whether you want to be or not ’cause we have the right to.’

“So now they use AI to put Ice Cube in a movie I don’t want to be in, saying things I don’t wanna say and doin’ thing I wouldn’t do, so to me, that’s terrible … or taking an artist that’s passed away and having him do a new song with lyrics that they may not agree with — it’s a slippery slope that will hurt us more than it will help us.”

Men alla är inte överens. Timbaland fastslog nyligen att han är beredd att ta täten när det kommer till artificiell intellegens inom musik. Enligt egen utsago planerar han att “commercialize artificial intelligence software” med målet att “revolutionizing how songs are made”. Lupe Fiasco presenterade också nyligen sitt samarbete med Google, där de tagit fram ett AI-verktyg för rappare.
