Under natten svensk tid gick årets MTV Video Music Awards av stapeln i New York med Megan Thee Stallion som värd för galan. Rapparen uppträdde också live under kvällen, tillsammans med namn som GloRilla, LL Cool J och Eminem – som öppnade upp showen för första gången sedan 2010.
Eminem vann också två priser för singeln “Houdini”, däribland för årets bästa hiphop-låt. Motsvarande kategori i r&b-genren vanns av SZA för “Snooze”.
