Eminem gästar Ez Mil på nya singeln “Realest” – efter kontraktet med Shady Records och Aftermath

I slutet av juli meddelade Eminem och Dr. Dre att de båda signat den unga Las Vegas-rapparen Ez Mil till Aftermath, Shady Records och Interscope. I ett uttalande sa Eminem:

“We’ve never been out there signing a lot of artists, and one of the great things about how we built Shady is how selective we’ve been. And it’s even rarer that Dre and I sign something together – but I heard Ez’s music and was like, ‘this is really special” so I took it to Dre. We both agreed it would be a great fit and we wanted to work with him right on the spot”

Det var Ez Mils singel “Up Down” från albumet ”DU4LI7Y” som fångade Eminems intresse. Han hörde låten en månad efter att den släppts och kontaktade Ez Mil direkt. Kontakten ledde till ett första möte i Los Angeles där den filipinsk-amerikanske rapparen fick möta både Eminem och Dr. Dre.

Efter mötet spelade Ez Mil och Eminem in låten ”Realest” tillsammans, som släpps denna fredag. På låten kommenterar Eminem kritik som riktats mot honom:

“Hip Hop has been good to me, huh/ But when they say that I’m only Top 5 ’cause I’m white, why would I be stunned?” Eminem spits. “My skin color’s still working against me/ ‘Cause second, I should be, to none/ Bein’ white being why they put me at five (Nope)/ That’s why they can’t put me at one.”

Slim Shady bemöter därefter kritik som hiphoplegendaren Melle Mel uttalat kring hans hudfärg och rappar:

“Shoutout to Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash, but boy/ There’s someone who really is furious/ Stay out his path, his wrath avoid/ I’ll be the last to toy with a juice head whose brain is half destroyed, like a meteor hit it/ Now with Melle Mel, he lost his ass to ‘roids.”

Låten finns även med deluxe-utgåvan av ”DU4LI7Y” som ges ut den 11 augusti 2023. Deluxe-versionen blir också hans sista släpp på Virgin Music.
