Big Sean släpper personliga albumet “Better Man Than You”

Med gäster som Gunna, DJ Premier och Proofs son NASAAN.

Efter många om och men har Big Sean till slut släppt sitt nya album “Better Me Than You”. Efter att ha läckts i princip i sin helhet och skjutits upp, får vi nu skivans 21 låtar in sin helhet.

Inför releasen avslöjade rapparen dessutom att han kämpat mentalt den senaste tiden, direkt kopplat till albumet. Via Instagram Live berättade Big Sean bland annat:

“I am a chronic overthinker. I’m a chronic, constant worker. And I’ve been having a hard time lately, straight up. It’s not been easy… But it’s worth it.”

Han gav sedan äran till sin mamma för att ha tagit sig igenom den sista mentala spärren innan skivan kunde släppas.

“When me and Jhené were giving our son a bath last night, my mom called me and she was just giving me them words. And I was just like, Look, I can keep working and make it exactly how I want it and I’ll be pushing it back forever. Or I can believe in the fire-ass work that I got right now and that’s what I’ma do. I appreciate my mom for being that guardian angel and always giving me that advice. She really talked me through it, for real.”

Big Sean har som bekant en nio månader gammal son tillsammans med sångerskan Jhené Aiko och utöver gäster som Kodak Black, Gunna, Cash Cobain, DJ Premier, Bryson Tiller och Teyana Taylor hörs också Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson på spåret “Break the Cycle” tillsammans med Charlie Wilson. På låten rappar han inte, utan bidrar istället med känslosamma ord kring faderskap.

“Yo, what’s up my brother? Great to hear from you. So, a few things. Most importantly, that sounds amazing, your baby boy is nine months old, thriving, I love hearing that and I’m sure that you were an inspired artist to begin with, like right out the gate but I’m sure holding your baby boy gives you a whole new perspective. This new evolution of what inspiration means so I’m sure your motivation, inspiration is through the roof with your baby boy.”

Han skojar sedan:

“What’s cool is your baby boy at nine months is almost already bigger than Kevin Hart so that’s really cool. Alright, my brother, I love you man. So happy for you, man, can’t wait to see your baby boy.”

Utöver ovannämnda namn gästar även Proof från D12:s son NASAAN på låten “Certified”.
