Den norska producenten/beatmakern Ol Burger Beats har under flera års tid skapat jazziga och boombap-influerade beats med basen i Oslo. Nu är han aktuell med nya albumprojektet “74: Out Of Time” där Fly Anakin, Awon, Quelle Chris, Pink Siifu, billy woods, lojii, YUNGMORPHEUS, Tha God Fahim, Vic Spencer och fler gästar. Albumet beskrivs av producenten själv:

“…a multifaceted and stunning exploration of sounds and eras. In addition to every track being produced at 74 beats per minute, the album harks back to the year 1974; particularly the music, the records, the activism, the artwork, and the aesthetics. But it’s also incredibly current, as the Out of Time portion of the title very much refers to the present. It promotes a sense of urgency in the face of current affairs such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, as well as contentious politics sweeping across the US and Europe.”

OBB medger att det varit en utmaning att hålla sig till 74 bpm för samtliga beats och säger i ett uttalande:

“It’s quite an unusual tempo for hip-hop I think. It’s both really relaxed but at the same time it can feel hard-hitting and modern if you match it with the right vocals and the right flow.”

På skivan bidrar även Pauline Neergård på flöjt, Guy Sion på saxofon, Sigurd Malmedal Drågen på trombone, Kristoffer Eikrem på trumpet och DJ Chali med scratch. Albumet finns även att köpa på vinyl via Bandcamp. Lyssna nedan!
