NIGO teamar upp med Pharrells JOOPITER för “archive sale” av personliga prylar

Pharrells digitala aktionshus JOOPITER har teamat upp med den välrenommerade japanske streetweardesignern NIGO för deras sjätte utförsäljning. Med titeln “From Me To You” erbjuder NIGO eftertraktade föremål från sitt personliga arkiv, men förstås inte gratis.

En global budgivning startar i mitten av november för föremålen som alla varit viktiga för en viktig era inom mode, hiphop och streetwear – tre fält som NIGO varit högst relevant inom i årtionden.

Som något av en banbrytare inom streetwearkulturen innefattar NIGO:s personliga arkiv föremål som lyxiga accessoarer, fina smycken och klockor, vintage-kläder, jeans och samlingsobjekt. Många av dem har burits av NIGO själv genom hans karriär. I ett uttalande förklarar han tanken bakom titeln “From Me To You”:

“’From Me To You’ is named after one of my favorite Beatles songs, and it symbolizes the time to finally release my most cherished, personal collections out into the world. Each item is something that I have spent time and energy to collect, and many I’ve been privileged to help create. I am sincerely looking forward to seeing how they are passed onto the next generation, and I hope they continue to live on through the next.”

Om några av de mer personliga vintage- och jeansplaggen från arkivet säger han vidare:

“I’ve been wearing vintage since when I was 15 years old. There was a big American vintage trend in Japan in the ’80s. The Japanese hardcore collectors were the ones who came up with the manual on vintage, and the culture still lives on today. The pursuit of learning from vintage clothing continues to inform everything I do.”

Pharrell, som också är nära vän till NIGO lägger till:

“We’re honored to have NIGO’s archive collection for this auction. Looking through these pieces, it’s like walking down memory lane for me. So many of these items are from iconic moments in fashion and culture, it’s a history lesson.”
