Förra året lanserade klassiska streetwear/skate-varumärket Champion en samarbetskollektion med Beastie Boys för en “Check Your Head”-kollektion. Under 2023 har Champion Europe även siktet inställt på att hedra hiphopkulturens 50-årsjubileum och samarbetar nu med med Beastie Boys återigen, denna gång för 25-årsfirandet av albumet “Hello Nasty”. Plaggen som lanseras är en Reverse Weave hoodie, sweatshirts och tracksuits i svartvitt. I ett pressmeddelande står att läsa:
“Emerging as one of the most desirable brands in the 90s, Hello Nasty was released in a decade when Champion were producing uniforms for all the NBA teams. Basketball and hip-hop were intrinsically linked through fashion; Champion became synonymous with hip-hop culture that was so heavily led and influenced by the Beastie Boys. As well as their ever-lasting footprint on music, it was also the band’s image that permeated the subcultures of the 90s and continues to influence fashion today.”
Samtidigt lanseras ett samarbete med den legendariska gruppen Naughty By Nature för Baseball Bat Reverse Sweatshirt, samt hoodies och t-shirts i färgerna Navy, Hunter Green och Beet Red. Via sociala medier skriver Champion Europe vidare:
“This year we celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, a momentous milestone in the history of music and cultural evolution. Hip-hop was born on the streets of the Bronx in the 1970s and has since become a global phenomenon. Throughout its journey, Champion has been an integral part of this culture. To celebrate 50 years of hip hop, Champion are releasing two special collaborations with two iconic music groups from the subculture.”
Båda kollektionerna släpps 11 oktober 2023 via Champion Europes hemsida.
