Filmens musik skapas av Young Chop.

Den kommande Netflix-filmen “Beats” handlar om hiphop-scenen i Chicago och är regisserad av Chris Robinson, mest känd för att ha arbetat på filmen “ATL” och miniserien “The New Edition Story”. Andra medverkande är bland annat skådespelarna Anthony Anderson från “Black-ish” och Uzo Aduba från “Orange is The New Black”. I huvudrollen finner vi 17-åriga Khalil Everage som själv är uppväxt i Chicago. Så här skriver Netflix i ett pressmeddelande:

“In this urban coming of age drama, the paths of a young musical prodigy (Everage) with borderline agoraphobia, and a former music manager (Anderson) who fell from grace, collide on Chicago’s South Side, and the unlikely duo must come together to free each other from the demons of their past. Beats is the ultimate ode to Chicago and its Hip Hop scene, as it illustrates the beating pulse at the heart of the South Side.”

Chicago-producenten Young Chop kommer att bidra med musik till filmen. Även andra artister och producenter från Chicago kommer att medverka, exakt vilka är oklart. Premiärdatum lär bli någon gång under 2019.
